Innovation

The first WACA Call for Innovation was launched on February 28, 2020 to identify innovative and feasible solutions to address coastal erosion and flooding issues associated with the development of commercial ports with limited planning and consideration of potential impacts to downstream communities. On November 18, 2020, a virtual award ceremony was held to present the three winners, which received a monetary price to further develop their proposals. In 2021 the WACA team launched a eBook, to showcase the results of the Call for Innovation, and worked together with the awarded innovators to produce road maps for proposals’ implementation. Updates will be provided in the section below.
