Bien que le taux de pauvreté du Togo ait baissé de 61,7 % en 2006 à 53,5 % en 2017, la pauvreté et les inégalités restent extrêmement élevées, notamment dans les zones rurales où 69 % des ménages vivaient sous le seuil de pauvreté en 2015. Le pays est divisé en cinq régions administratives et gère un système de république présidentielle unitaire avec un parlement.

The country is divided into five administrative regions and runs a unitary presidential republic system with a parliament.
