The Steering Committee approves the 2026 AWPB of the WACA ResIP–Togo Project

The Steering Committee of the West Africa Coastal Areas Resilience Investment Project in Togo (WACA ResIP) held its second ordinary session of the year 2025 on 8 January 2026. The meeting was dedicated to the review and approval of the 2026 Annual Work Plan and Budget (AWPB).

Preparatory work for this session began on 29 December 2025 and involved members of the Steering Committee, together with representatives of the Project Monitoring Unit of the “Army of Projects” and the Ministry of Environment, Forest Resources, Coastal Protection and Climate Change (MERFPCCC). This collaborative process made it possible to strengthen the 2026 AWPB and ensure its consistency, rigor and feasibility, in line with the 2026 budget planning framework.

A total of 84 activities are planned under the 2026 AWPB, with an overall budget of CFAF 21,700,371,000. Coastal protection works and flood control interventions, financed by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and Invest International, account for the largest share of the budget, reflecting the project’s priorities in strengthening coastal resilience.

The session was chaired by Ms. Issifou Alima Birregah, Director General for Aid Mobilization and Partnerships at the Ministry under the authority of the President of the Council in charge of Planning. Following the adoption of the 2026 AWPB, she commended the tangible results already achieved on the ground and encouraged the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) to maintain its momentum for the benefit of coastal communities.

She also expressed her appreciation to all members of the Steering Committee, particularly the representatives of the MERFPCCC Cabinet, for their constructive contributions, which helped enhance and strengthen the 2026 AWPB.
