The World Bank study on The Cost of Coastal Zone Degradation in West Africa shows that in 2017 alone, coastal flooding, erosion, and pollution cost about $3.8 billion, or 5.3% of the GDP of four countries – Benin, Côte d'Ivoire, Senegal and Togo.

L'étude de la Banque mondiale sur Le coût de la dégradation des zones côtières en Afrique de l'Ouest montre qu'en 2017, les inondations, l'érosion et la pollution côtières seulement ont coûté environ 3,8 milliards de dollars, soit 5,3% du PIB de quatre pays: Bénin, Côte d'Ivoire, Sénégal et Togo.
